Poetry

armour, dented, blows, freed

September 17, 2026

Enflame our hearts O God

armour

humans have become so used to masks

wearing them 24/7

covering what’s underneath

some may be physical,

most aren’t.

a smile when deep down you’re breaking down

a laugh when you’re hanging on by a thread

a grin when waking up every day is the hardest decision you make

all subtle

but all there

a secret sort of armour

that He will only know

if you stayed long enough

to let Him take that armour off.

dented

i know i shouldn’t

shouldn’t let Him in

dent the armour that i’ve so purposefully built

years of trauma

of strengthening its bones

solidifying it till it melted into me

and even i could no longer see

where flesh ended

and metal began

but every soft word

every sly smile

every comforting hand

blow a dent in my metal

the heat

melting it

section by section

until He finally reaches the end

He finally found my flesh.

blows

it took Me hours

days

months

but I didn’t stop

couldn’t stop.

I kept trying

a soft look

a sly smile

a comforting hand

trying to melt it

to dig behind the metal

to reach the flesh I knew lay beneath

flesh she was so desperately trying to hide

until one day

My fingers were met with a warm flush

instead of a cold surface.

she meets My eyes

a smile spreading across her flushed cheeks

her fingers reaching across

expecting ice

and being greeted with blaze.

freed

i am melting

i am burning

i am ablaze.

ablaze for Him.

iron no longer clings to my skin

shattering the bones underneath

metal no longer cages me in

abolishing all my chances of freedom

instead

i am filled with Warmth

with Light

with Fire.

and i can’t contain it

can’t control it

i need to spread it

show it to the world

i need to set the world on fire with His light.
